She/Her
Wiebke Schroeder (she/her) is an emerging interdisciplinary artist currently based in Mi’kmaq/Nova
Scotia. Her main focus is photography, installation and expanded media arts. After receiving the “open
studio” certificate from NSCAD in 2017, she continued her studies at NSCAD and completed her BFA
(2019) and her Master’s in Fine Art (2022) with a major in photography. She works recently as an
Instructor at NSCAD as well as a freelance photographer next to her artistic practice.
Her lifelong interests and engagement in environmental and social issues have been the primary focus of
her artistic work over the past years. Drawing on her experience in science, Schroeder utilizes different
media and diverse materials to explore and deconstruct the relations between the human-made and non-
human world, constructed environments and the cultural, social, economic and political structures behind
them.
