Social Media Research Assistant
The Social Media Research Assistant is responsible for the overall functionality and direction of the Flaxmobile social media accounts (IG and Facebook). These accounts are the primary means to connect with farmers and craftspeople across the province, and to share research activities with the public. Their expertise in communications, educational marketing, photo and video editing, and content curation will be a great contribution to the research team. It is the goal of the Social Media Research Assistant to integrate activities of the research team to continually increase exposure to the project, including making the work of farmers, craftspeople, and researchers visible to develop discourse about flax growing in Nova Scotia by growing the number of posts, followers, and providing educational and accessible information to the public.
Contract Dates: 1 June 2023 – 31 January 2024
Commitment: 8-10 hrs/wk to a maximum of 300 hours
Reimbursement: $16.74/hr undergraduate $22.70/hr graduate or equivalent

Graphic and UX/UI Design Research Assistant
The
Graphic and UX/UI Design Research Assistant will be responsible for designing the
digital interfaces of the Flaxmobile project. They will understand and apply user-centred
design principles to ensure that information is accessible and engaging to a
broad audience. Working closely with the project team, the Graphic and UX/UI Designer
will design and develop graphic applications such as the project website,
public presentations, and the Grower’s Guide to Fibre Flax from concept to
completion. This is a key role in the project team, as these interfaces will enable
the translation of research to the public to inform
public discourse and allow the project to have a meaningful impact among stakeholder groups.

Project Coordinator
The Project Coordinator is responsible for the execution of Flaxmobile
activities throughout Mi’kma’ki: Nova Scotia, including in Unama’ki: Cape
Breton. They will play a key role in coordinating Flaxmobile Project activities
and events such as community conversations, artist residencies, farmers’
retreats, and group exhibitions, and will be in regular communication with
farmers and craftspeople to carry out project objectives. Reporting to the principal
investigator and researcher, they will be a key member of the project team and participate
directly in the development of research. They will also participate in
information management, budget-keeping, communications, and provide
administrative support as needed. A deep understanding of the provincial craft
ecosystem is an asset.
